Golf Solitaire
Gameplay
The game board in Golf Solitaire consists of:
- Seven Columns: Each column contains 5 face-up cards.
- The Stock: A facedown pile located at the bottom left, used to draw cards from and place onto the Waste.
- The Waste: A face-up pile next to the Stock, initially empty.
Objective
The goal is to move all cards from the columns onto the Waste. You can only move the topmost card from each column at a time. A card can be moved onto the Waste if it is one rank higher or lower than the topmost card on the Waste. For example, if there's a 6 on the Waste, you can move a 5 or a 7 there. Initially, the Waste is empty, allowing any card to be moved there.
If no cards in the columns can be moved to the Waste, draw a card from the Stock and place it on the Waste. Note that you can only go through the Stock once; no resets are allowed.
Winning
A game is won if all the cards from the columns have been moved to the Waste. The number of cards left in the Stock at the end does not affect the outcome.
If no possible moves are left and the Stock is finished, the game is lost. However, you can use the Undo button to try different strategies.
Scoring
The primary objective is to clear all the cards, so the key metric is the number of cards left. If you have 0 cards left, you have won. The game also tracks the number of moves used to achieve your result. If two players complete the same game, the player with the fewest moves is considered to have the best result.
