Algerian Patience Solitaire Game Overview
Game Information
- Category: Other
- Decks Used: Two decks (104 cards)
- Game Duration: Long
- Winning Probability: Medium
Objective
The goal of Algerian Patience Solitaire is to move all the cards to the eight foundation piles.
Deal and Layout
The game uses two decks, totaling 104 cards. Initially, six cards are dealt face-up to each of the six reserve piles. Each of the eight tableau piles receives one face-up card, with the first four tableau piles getting an additional card. The remaining cards are placed face-down in the stock.
Allowed Moves
- Tableau Building: Cards in the tableau are built in-suit and can be arranged both ascending and descending. The card ranks are continuous, allowing a King to be placed on an Ace and vice versa. Only one card can be moved at a time, and any card can fill an empty tableau pile.
- Reserve Restrictions: No building is allowed on the reserve piles. Cards can only be moved from the reserve to the tableau or foundation.
- Stock Dealing: Clicking the stock deals two face-up cards to each reserve pile, except for the final deal, which places one face-up card on each tableau pile.
- Foundation Building: The first four foundations are built up in-suit starting with an Ace, while the last four are built down in-suit starting with a King.
Scoring System
- Reserve to Tableau: Gain 5 points for each card moved.
- To Foundation: Gain 10 points for each card moved from the tableau or reserve to the foundation.
- Foundation to Tableau: Lose 15 points for moving a card back from the foundation to the tableau.
This scoring system is based on the traditional Solitaire Masters version of Algerian Patience, rewarding strategic moves and careful planning.
